Monts Hall Gallery

Each year, Lester P. Monts Hall features 8-10 exhibits featuring University, local professional, and K-12 student artists. Along with an opening reception, each show includes an artist talk or educational program related to the exhibition to foster awareness, understanding, and appreciation of the visual arts. As a public art gallery, we seek to provide meaningful educational encounters with visual arts, while enhancing the cultural environment of our community.

Concert of Colors

Concert of Colors

The Concert of Colors is metro Detroit’s free annual diversity-themed music festival. It is produced by the Arab American National Museum with partners including the University of Michigan Detroit Center, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Institute of Arts, Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, ACCESS and Midtown Detroit Inc.

University of Michigan Detroiter Hall of Fame

Initiated in 2013, the University of Michigan Detroiter Hall of Fame honors the distinguished career achievements of Detroit natives who have graduated from the University of Michigan and made recognized national or global contributions to their disciplines.

Noel Night

Noel Night

Since December 1973, Noel Night has been an annual holiday event across Detroit’s cultural center – better known as Midtown. Usually falling on the first Saturday of December, this “Open House” style event features admission to many of Detroit’s well-known educational and cultural institutions for activities such as, music, dancing, family fun, arts and crafts, shopping and more.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day at the Detroit Center

Experience the University of Michigan’s annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Symposium — one of the largest celebrations of the life and legacy of MLK – from Detroit. This annual Detroit Center event includes a live simulcast and panel discussion with a Detroit-based theme.
