The Center for Engineering Diversity and Outreach (CEDO) at the University of Michigan’s College of Engineering provides STEM content programs for GEAR UP --Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs.
These STEM based programs are grade appropriate for those in grade seven through the first year of college; workshops complement the needs of teachers, program providers, and students as they progress through middle and high school.
GEAR UP is a competitive grant program of the U.S. Department of Education that increases the number of first generation college students who are prepared to enter and succeed in post-secondary education. The federal grant for the State of Michigan is administered by the King-Chavez-Parks Initiative. The dynamic partnership between GEAR UP and the Center for Engineering Diversity and Outreach leverages local resources to match the federal investment dollar for dollar in support of creating STEM literate students prepared for STEM careers.
