After a successful inaugural fall semester, the pilot phase of the MDetroit Center Connector (MDCC) will expand its service and features for Winter term 2014.

Beginning January 15, 2014, the MDetroit Center Connector will offer weekly bus service on Wednesdays, in addition to the Fridays and Saturdays currently offered. In commemoration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the University of Michigan Detroit Center will host a series of inspiring and educational events beginning at 10 a.m., Monday, January 20 with free admission and parking to all attendees.

A simulcast of the 28th Annual Martin Luther King Day Symposium keynote address, presented by social activist, singer and songwriter, Harry Belafonte, will take place in the Ann Arbor room of the Detroit Center from 10 – 11:30 a.m. more

The University of Michigan Detroit Center presents the fourth Annual Sounds of the Season program on Thursday, December 5 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

This free show for senior citizens and their guests features seasonal music from the Advanced Choir of Southfield-Lathrup High School under the direction of Mr. Jeffrey Martin and the Detroit School of Arts' string quintet under the direction of Mr. Sean R. Smith.

The Distinguished Diversity Leaders Award was established to shine a light on those staff members who work toward achieving a welcoming, supportive and inclusive working environment. Known for its insightful and moving documentaries, the Sankofa Film Series returns to the University of Michigan Detroit Center with a screening of “Black Unicorn: Dudley Randall and Broadside Press.”

The first of this four film series takes place on Friday, November 15 beginning at 6:15 p.m. The event includes complimentary admission, parking and light refreshments to all attendees. Following the film, a brief discussion on the documentary will be lead by Dr. Melba Joyce Boyd.
