Work Detroit Presents: Dissidence

Opening Friday, October 19, the 2012 Fall exhibition season at Work Detroit continues with, Dissidence.

An opening reception for this intriguing exhibition will take place on Friday, October 19 from 6 - 9 p.m. This event is open to the public and includes complimentary admission, refreshments and parking.

Curated by Ryan Herberholz of the Penny W. Stamps School of Art & Design (BFA student), this exhibition focuses on the globalized voices of dissent that have become increasingly audible. A growing number of individuals realize the need for social and political norms to be rethought for the good of all humanity.

These dissident voices express the need to address issues of sustainability, conservation and global social justice, in the here and now.  In this time of economic insecurity and turmoil, the potential for change is great. Work Detroit shares their response and creative reaction to this topic.

Dissidence runs from October 19 – November 16. The exhibition may be accessed between 11 a.m.–4 p.m., Tuesday – Saturday. Work Detroit is located at the University of Michigan Detroit Center at Orchestra Place, 3663 Woodward Avenue, Suite 150 in Midtown Detroit.
