Map to Cass Park

On Saturday, July 30 from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM nearby Cass park (2nd Ave & Temple, Detroit) is holding a clean-up event entitled, "Cass Park Spit N' Shine". The clean-up efforts will focus on general maintenance of the park, planting new plants, and weeding. Organizers hope to raise awareness for the park, share in the park's history, and have an enjoyable day outside. On Thursday, July 21 at 6:30 PM, the Detroit Center will host a sneak preview screening of the film "Opening Our Eyes". Filmed by a mother/daughter team Gail Mooney and Erin Kelly, the documentary shows how ordinary people are making a positive difference to make the world a better place. Travelling through 6 continents, they filmed people in Uganda, Poland, Russia, Nepal, Thailand, Australia, Peru, Argentina, and the United States.
