The Penny Stamps Distinguished Speaker Series will present a talk by Dr. Naif A. Al-Mutawa on Friday, December 9, 9:00AM-10:30AM at the Detroit Center. Noel Night text with star

The Detroit Centers of Michigan State University and the University of Michigan are partnering to host Noel Night activities on Saturday, December 3. Travel to Midtown Detroit’s famed south end to enjoy performing and visual arts, a fun-filled scavenger hunt, as well as, holiday crafts and treats. Free parking is available at the MSU lot and streets adjacent to either Center.

Beah: A Black Woman Speaks promotional photo

In partnership the U-M Dearborn’s African and African American Studies Program, the U-M Detroit Center launches the Sankofa Film Series. This year’s series is entitled, "Contemporary Artists Embrace the Elders: Harry Belafonte, Beah Richards, Elizabeth Catlett, Francisco Mora, and Pio Leyva". For our Fall semester service project, we have decided to sponsor a coat drive for the nearby St. Leo Parish and Soup Kitchen. Please bring your new or usable cleaned winter coats (with the appropriate buttons and zippers) to our Reception Desk. If you do not have a coat to donate, but are feeling the spirit of the season - we will also accept monetary donations. Our drive ends on Friday, November 18.
